Working as an accountant while studying in Bendigo

Dylan began working at AFS in 2022 after transitioning from a small firm when studying his degree.

“I wanted to be part of a bigger firm and the perks that AFS offered, particularly the support and policies around flexible work and study support was what lead me to apply for a position.”

Flexible working

Dylan especially values the option to have flexible working hours, where AFS allow team members to choose their work hours anytime between 7am – 7pm.

“If I had set working hours of 9am to 5pm and was studying at the same time I would struggle to manage both work and study, but because of the flexible working arrangements I am able to start my work day earlier and finish earlier to give myself the time to study in the late afternoon."

“When a big assessment or exam is coming up, the comfort of knowing I can take a study leave around my assessment really takes some stress off cramming in study after working all day.”

Working with other students

Working amongst his peers was also a big bonus for Dylan upon joining the large team at AFS.

“Working with people on the same career timeline as me, undertaking the same course or subjects, means we can form study groups for our further studies. It’s a great place to start your career and learn from the people around you.”
