ATO extends initial JobKeeper payment deadline
The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) announced changes to the JobKeeper deadlines for enrolment and payment requirements, these deadlines are:
- Businesses were given an extension up until 31 May to enrol for the first two JobKeeper fortnights, being 30 March -12 April and 13 April – 26 April.
- We suggest you enrol as soon as practical to ensure the ATO reimbursement flows through sooner.
- Each employer had until 8 May to pay the minimum $1,500 per fortnight for each eligible employee. This means that you needed to ensure each employee received at a minimum two fortnightly payments of at least $1,500 per fortnight by 8 May, or a combined payment of at least $3,000.
This change was made to provide the employer sufficient time to process all JobKeeper employee nomination notices, and determine all eligible employees.
