Our intrepid partner, Paul Byrne, is leaving for Papua New Guinea to walk the Kokoda Track with 17 other Bendigo businessmen from the Hindsight Club. They aim to fulfil a lifelong ambition to follow in the footsteps of their heroes of Kokoda.
Setting off on this epic journey in the lead up to the ANZAC centenary commemorations, the group aim to complete the 96km Kokoda trail trek in just nine days to attend the dawn service at the Bomana War cemetary on ANZAC morning.
Paul has been training most mornings and weekends since November.
“I’m looking forward to the experience; it’s also a great opportunity to raise money for Bendigo families with children in wheelchairs.” said Paul before he set off on Tuesday 14 April 2015.
“It will be an honour to attend the dawn services for the 100th year ANZAC commemorations” adds Paul.
All funds raised before and during the trek will be donated to assist with the cost of purchasing wheelchairs for Bendigo children. You can donate via any Bendigo bank branch
